IDSF REGISTRATION SYSTEM FOR CHAMPIONSHIP COUPLES
As of January first 2010 all Championship competitors wanting to dance in IDSF events must be
registered as an active couple in the IDSF Registration system and each member of the couple must have
a Member Identification Number (MIN) with ACTIVE status. This is only for IDSF competitions at the
Championship level. If you are dancing Championship level within your own Country or region and
you do not enter designated IDSF competitions then you are fine, provided you are a member in good
standing of your Amateur Organization.

According to the IDSF Competition Rules, all competitors in IDSF Competitions must be a member of a national IDSF member association.
The national member associations are responsible for compliance with the IDSF Competition Rules in their respective countries and should use them as guide-lines for their own rules. Only athletes and officials who are licensed by their IDSF member bodies may participate in DanceSport competitions granted by IDSF.
The IDSF Presidium will require strict enforcement of these rules beginning with the 2005 Russian Open Championship (“ROC”) [Moscow, 25 – 30 Oct]. Athletes who are not members of an IDSF member body will not be allowed to participate in the ROC and the IDSF-granted DanceSport competitions conducted as part of the ROC.

The International DanceSport Federation (IDSF) is comprised of member federations of 84 countries on six continents. In 1997 IDSF received Full Recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the sole worldwide representative body for DanceSport.
It has come to IDSF’s attention that a group calling itself the “INTERNATIONAL DANCE UNION” (“IDU”) proposes to offer or somehow certify “Amateur Dancesport Competitions” in certain countries, including but not limited to Russia.
IDSF draws the attention of all athletes, adjudicators, chairmen and other members of the world DanceSport community to the following facts:
